Petri Plate Art is a unique and interactive event where participants get to express their artistic side using microbiology-inspired themes. Using Petri plates as canvases, participants will create life science-related illustrations, ranging from microbial colonies to DNA structures and cellular designs. This event not only highlights the beauty of microbiology but also fosters creativity, scientific curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the microbial world.

Microbial art is an innovative form of expression that merges science and creativity, allowing participants to visualize the invisible world of microorganisms tangibly and aesthetically. By using different bacterial and fungal strains, each with its unique pigmentation and growth pattern, participants will craft visually stunning designs that reflect various aspects of life sciences. Whether it’s the intricate structure of a DNA double helix, the mesmerizing swirls of bacterial colonies, or abstract representations of microbiological concepts, this event will be an extraordinary fusion of art and science.

  • OBJECTIVE OF PETRI PLATE PAINTING:

The Petri plate Painting event aims to promote scientific creativity and sustainability by transforming used Petri plates into artistic expressions of scientific concepts. This initiative encourages participants to explore Microbiology through art while emphasizing the importance of recycling and innovation in Science.

RULES

– Use of acrylic paints provided by the organizing team is mandatory.

– Time limit:90 minutes. 

– Theme: *Science Beyond Imagination* (Participants must adhere to the theme). 

– Use of gadgets and copying from others is strictly prohibited.

  • STRUCTURE OF THE EVENT

Structure of the Petri Plate Painting Event

The Petri Plate Painting event will be conducted in a structured and organized manner to ensure a smooth and engaging experience for all participants. Below is the step-by-step plan for executing the event:


1. Pre-Event Preparation

  • Registration: Participants will register before the event through an offline registration via event members at the registration desk.
  • Material Distribution: The organizing committee will ensure that all required materials (Petri plates, paints, brushes, markers, etc.) are available at the venue.
  • Venue Setup:
    • Arrangement of tables and seating for participants.
    • Display area preparation for completed artworks.
    • Judges’ seating arrangement.
  • Rules & Theme Announcement: Inform participants about the event rules and theme beforehand.

2. Event Execution

Step 1: Opening Ceremony (10-15 minutes)

  • Welcome speech by the Event In-Charge, Dr. Shabaaz Begum.
  • Brief introduction to the event, its objectives, and the theme.
  • Address by the Head of the Department, Prof. Anju Rani.

Step 2: Distribution of Materials (5-10 minutes)

  • Each participant will receive:
    • One Petri plate
    • Acrylic paints & brushes
    • A permanent marker (if required for detailing)
  • Participants will be guided to their respective seats.

Step 3: Painting Session (90 minutes)

  • Participants will begin painting based on the given theme: “Science Beyond Imagination”.
  • Organizing committee members will monitor and ensure adherence to rules (e.g., no gadget use, no copying).

Step 4: Collection & Display of Artworks (15-20 minutes)

  • Completed Petri plates will be carefully collected and arranged on thermocol sheets for display.
  • Each participant’s artwork will be labeled with their name and registration number.

Step 5: Judging Process (30 minutes)

  • Judges (Prof. Pratibha Nathani, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Dr. Suman Nathani) will evaluate paintings based on:
    • Creativity & Originality
    • Scientific Relevance
    • Neatness & Presentation
    • Overall Artistic Appeal

Step 6: Results & Award Distribution (15-20 minutes)

  • Judges will announce the top three winners and any special mentions.
  • Certificates and awards will be distributed to winners and participants.
  • Closing remarks by judges and faculty members.

Rules and Guidelines:

1. Participants must bring their own coloring or painting materials.

2. The artwork should strictly adhere to the theme.

3. No pre-prepared designs or stencils are allowed.

4. Participants will have a time limit of 60 minutes to complete their artwork.

5. Any offensive or inappropriate content will lead to disqualification.

6. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.

Judging Criteria:

1. Creativity and originality – 30%

2. Relevance to the theme – 30%

3. Neatness and presentation – 20%

4. Overall visual appeal – 20%
